Managing Projects

Only the BugMaster may perform the steps listed below:

Creating Projects

To create a project, use the ``New Project'' link in the left frame of the Anthill page once you have logged in as the BugMaster. You will be asked for a project name, a setting for the restrictive option, and a list of maintainers for the project. Setting the restrictive option means that only maintainers may directly alter the status, priority, and developer assignment of the bug. All developers may confirm and add comments to bugs in other projects, so this is usually a reasonable option to set. You may select more than one maintainer for a project by holding down the CTRL key when selecting developers. Note that only letters, digits, and spaces are allowed in the project name and other characters will be stripped.

Editing Project Information

You may edit every aspect of a project once it has been created. To do so, use the ``Edit Project'' link in the left frame of the Anthill page. All the same rules relating to creating projects also apply to editing them.

Removing Projects

To remove projects, use the ``Remove Project'' option in the left frame of the main Anthill screen once you have logged in as the BugMaster. You may select multiple projects to be removed at one time by holding down the CTRL key while selecting projects. Each project is removed independently, so the Anthill scripts will try to remove as many projects as possible regardless of the error status of any single operation. Removing a project permanently deletes all bugs related to that project in the bugs database and deletes all the maintainership privileges associated with that project.

Note

Wherever the name ``Anthill'' is mentioned in this document, it refers to the Anthill Bug Manager. If other projects, things, or people coincidentally bear the name ``Anthill'', it is assumed that the reader can divine from the context of this document that only the Anthill Bug Manager is being referred to. If not, that is what this note is for.
