Managing Developers

Only the BugMaster may perform the steps listed below:

Creating Developers

To create a developer, use the ``New Developer'' link in the left frame of the Anthill page once you have logged in as the BugMaster. You will be asked for several pieces of information about the developer, including a login name, a full name, and e-mail address, and a login password. Of these, the full name and e-mail address are conveniences that help provide a friendlier interface to Anthill whereas the login name and password are compulsory. Ordinary developers do not have the same level of privileges as the BugMaster and so have a simplified interface in their left frame after logging in. In addition, developers are not allowed to perform many of the management steps listed here and other places except for managing bugs and changing their passwords.

Editing Developer Information

There is currently no facility to do this within Anthill, although there may be one in the future. For changing passwords, see the section entitled Changing Passwords.

Removing Developers

To remove developers, use the ``Remove Developer'' option in the left frame of the main Anthill screen once you have logged in as the BugMaster. You may select multiple developers to be removed at one time by holding down the CTRL key while selecting developers. You may not remove the BugMaster. Each developer is removed independently, so the Anthill scripts will try to remove as many developers as possible regardless of the error status of any single operation. Removing a developer revokes all maintainership privileges and deletes the login information for that developer. However, bugs that are assigned to that developer will not be automatically re-assigned.

Changing Passwords

To change developer passwords, use the ``Change Passwords'' option in the left frame of the main Anthill screen. You will have to provide a new password as well as the login name of a specific developer. If you cannot remember the login name of a particular developer, then you may go to the ``List Overall Status'' link on the left frame to see a list of all developers and their associated login names.

Changing Maintainership of Projects

To do this, see the Managing Projects page.

Note

Wherever the name ``Anthill'' is mentioned in this document, it refers to the Anthill Bug Manager. If other projects, things, or people coincidentally bear the name ``Anthill'', it is assumed that the reader can divine from the context of this document that only the Anthill Bug Manager is being referred to. If not, that is what this note is for.
